I recently bought tickets to opening night of the Spongebob musical with cheap seats in the back of the mezz. I always buy mezz because I'm short (4'11). I just recieved an email saying that my seats were changed to row X of the orchestra. I'm super worried that my sister and I (she's even shorter than me) won't be able to see I was really hoping to see it opening night, but they have offered a full refund for tickets to another night. Are the seats in the back that hard to see above? Thanks.
The Oriental Theater orchestra slopes up as it goes back. The stage is also pretty high. I'm not sure if it'll cause an issue or not, but I would say it's better than most in that regard.
You have to admit it is one gorgeous theater. Thank God it is one of the few Loop survivors.

Truly, a beautiful theatre.
Anyway, Leaf, I sat in the front balcony/loge section earlier this year, but at intermission I went down to the dress circle to see what the view looked like and it barely cut off part of the curtain, so if I'm correct...sitting in the rear orchestra would have even less of a cut off, if any. Although, that was while I was at Matilda, and of course since it was a tour, it's curtains/set didn't fill the entire stage. SpongeBob's probably will, so keep that in mind. Height wise, you should be fine in the rear orchestra. Or simply wait another day or two after opening night and get balcony/loge seats, but I can see why you'd especially want to go to opening night. :)
Both this and the Chicago were designed by the same architect. I was in both theaters years ago before they were renovated.Hope to get back some time to see Wrigley and to see shows in both.
