Does anyone know where I could find original choreography documentation? Like for West Side Story, A Chorus Line, etc. I'm looking on doing some workshops and I would love to teach sections of dance...

You might be able to rent these without a license if it is for a specific educational purpose. Good Luck!

Posted: 9/6/05 at 11:20pmI know that Rodgers & Hammerstein has a video with the Agnes DeMille choreography for CAROUSEL, taught by some of her protege's. They were planning one for OKLAHOMA as well - I don't knoiw if it ever got made.

Posted: 9/7/05 at 12:32amI know that for chorus line, when the show is licensed, they rent out to you Michael Bennet's "bible" which has every piece of choreography and position from the original production. contact tams-witmark about that. also i know that MTI rents out the original choreography for west side story. they might make special arrangements with you to rent out just those documents. I hope it works out for you!

For some reason though, I wanna say that there is a part cut out completely in the film. The "Swing Section" in it before the "Ba-da bum, Ba-da bum, Ba-da bum, Ba Dah" 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 turn repeat "Ba-da bum..." (before "Crazy, Cool, Go"). Did any of that make sense?

Hanya Holm's work for the original Kiss Me Kate was labanotated.
It is probably with her archive (wherever that is) rather than the show, but there could be a copy at Lincoln Center.
