Line - Off Broadway - Thoughts? Mar 4 2009, 03:36:50 PM
I am a musical director and almost always go to see musicals when I am in the city, and I am trying to see some plays (that won't cost an arm and a leg) and would love your thoughts on this show if anyone has seen it - or any other off broadway (or off off broadway) plays.

Advice needed for a NYC concert... Mar 4 2009, 03:32:26 PM
Hey everybody. I thought that I would try to get some thoughts on a performance I am considering producing at a small 99 seat house in the city. I would like to do a concert type performance of music by either an individual or a team that have done a number of shows together. Some initial thoughts were Jason Robert Brown, Bill Finn, Jeanine Tesori, Ahrens and Flaherty, or other more modern composer/lyricists. I don't think that Rodgers and Hammerstein would reall

re: Gypsy Taped for Lincoln Center Archives Today Dec 18 2008, 12:43:32 PM
I saw Gypsy with Bernadette in September, and the guy at the desk who signed me in said that he had just finished viewing and preparing the tapes for the LuPone Gypsy. So maybe this was a re-recording of it for some reason?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEtvVSVLuAo This is gotta get a gimmick from the same Gypsy that was posted about earlier in this thread. It still sounds like Mazeppa fell into the pit for the lead trumpet part!

riedel deep throated a dachshund to get this information, it must be true Dec 18 2008, 12:02:40 PM
If the article is completely true - and who knows about that for sure - then as long as Groff doesn't need $1,500 a week right now good for him. If the thinks that he can get more doing something somewhere else, I wish him the best of luck. Right now, I would be happy to work for (about) $175 a performance - especially with the economy - who knows when the next role will come up that he would be the right type for.

re: Gypsy Questions Nov 9 2008, 11:11:47 PM
When my mother came into town we ate at Dave and Busters on 42nd between 8th and 7th. It gave us some more time to kill before the show going into the game room. I hope you enjoy the show!

Theaterguy11, Bad for Broadway?? Nov 5 2008, 08:13:20 PM
TAX RANT I don't know WHY this country can't have a flat tax. I just don't know why - and if people want to PM me their opinions on that instead of posting here, I would welcome it. The government knows what people make who file taxes. Figure out what programs are important for everybody and make it work. Then the PROGRAMS would be up for debate, instead of all the nonsense. I would be happy to pay 20% of my income is the person make $250,000 a year paid 20%, and the k

The monkeys kind of bounce up and down on wires. I think one of them goes back and forth across the stage. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong

Hilarious Comments... Sep 20 2008, 07:24:28 AM
I was at Gypsy at the end of August, and a couple behind me in their 40's were discussing the show before the curtain went up. Man - There is no orchestra pit here. Where's the orchestra? Woman - This is one of those shows where the orchestra is on stage. Man - Oh......well if the actors come out playing them like that other piece of crap Company we are leaving. Fortunately, the woman explained what was going on.....but its a great mental image of Patti singing at the e

re: Electra in new production of Gypsy Sep 3 2008, 05:00:09 PM
I think that it is because she is playing such an OLD stripper - which slows her down in and of itself - and also her line "I NEVER HAVE TO SWEAT TO GET PAID" where she is just going through the motions. Thats the best I can come up with it - but I think it works really well from that angle. I sure gives a laugh to YOU'RE EVEN YOUNGER THAN I WAS WHEN I STARTED STRIPPING

Bravo Canada's Spring Awakening Special May 25 2008, 01:55:49 PM
Hi All. Wondering if anybody knows any information about when this might air, and if anybody in Canada is going to be taping it when it does come on. Apparently there have been some filming of the show (May 23rd) and also some rehearsals for Kyle going in as Melchior. Thanks in advance!
