Doodlenyc: I would not be surprised if Faith Dane DID create her own "stage business" for the original production of GYPSY. After all, she did come from the world of Burlesque where she was a stripper. I would love to see any correspondence she had with David Merrick, the "Abominable Showman". And the information about the Faith Dane Clause in Equity contracts is fascinating.

Apparently, her attorney is unaware of the authenticity exception of the anti-discrimination legislation which pretty much exempts the entertainment industry.

I think the funniest part is suing 'essentially the director' since the decision is up to him, who is 92 for age discrimination.

Her lawyer should be disbarred. The casting of theater, movies, tv, etc. falls under an exception in anti-discrimination laws. Though I am sure the complaint and supporting papers offer some kind of entertainment in their own right!
