Original Reverand Moore in Footloose?

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to the original Rev. Moore in Footloose. It wasn't always Stephen Lee Anderson, was it?

Also, does anyone know anything about the song that was cut from the beginning of Act 2?

I saw a video at the Performing Arts Library and the top of Act 2 is very differant from what I remember seeing live.

He's been working pretty consistantly since FOOTLOOSE.

After FOOTLOOSE, he appeared in THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER, THE CRUCIBLE, LIFE(x)3, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and JULIUS CAESAR with Denzel Washington.

Not sure about the opening of the second act.
But the original Moore was
Martin Vidnovic
who was replaced in previews.
There was a reason...can't recall right now...

Interesting! At one point on the video they had to stop and go back so he could correct his flub. He seemed very good. Pretty gesture-happy, though.

I recall from an interview with director Walter Bobbie shortly after Footloose opened that he was good long-time friends with Martin Vidnovic, but that during previews he just felt that he wasn't what the role required. Bobbie said he felt the blame was his own for casting the wrong person and that there was no bad blood between them over what was essentially an artistic decision. Stephen Lee Anderson took over during previews and opened the show.

All I know is that Stephen Lee Anderson's lisp on the cast album provided my friends and I with hours of entertainment when we performed the show in high school.

Kitzy, for some more fun lisping, listen to Violet. I don't own the Footloose album but at least it confirms it's not just me wondering about Anderson's lisp.

I always thought he was rather terrible in the role, and couldn't believe there wasn't a more appropriate casting choice out there.

Stephen Lee Anderson is in thr tour of WICKED (now playing Toronto) and understudies the role of the Witch's father. On opening night this week he was on in that role. I reminded my friend that we had seen him on Broadway in FOOTLOOSE and my friend commented that he remembered his "Soft S" from that show.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

Lisp aside, with regard to Footloose, he had more & better placed emotion than the prior Rev. Shaw. IMHO

He's a great choice for the Witch's Father!
