I was surprised that the number performed was Jerry Orbach/ALL I CARE ABOUT IS LOVE. That's such a strange choice to represent that show. Any thoughts as to why they didn't feature something a little more exciting with Rivera and Verdon?

I think the "show" was not too happy with the nomination of a supporting role "Cassie" in the Best Actress category. But I don't know if that influenced the choice for the number performed. Too bad, a televised performance in 1976 of Chita and Gwen would have been wonderful.

Gwen wasn't in robust health at the time. Maybe they figured a night off from performing would be beneficial, and rather than shine the spotlight on Chita alone, they should give the slot to Jerry.
There's a wonderful clip around of Gwen and Chita doing the complete big closing number which was done on I believe Chicago TV when the show was in previews out of town. It is the ONLY time I've seen both women in these roles end with a split which was later replaced by a cartwheel. They were wonderful together. So many times I'll see two performers on stage playing soley to the audience and seldom reacting to one another. In this clip both ladies are totally in tune, feeding off each other's energy and bringing down the house. Sure do miss Gwen.
I believe one can view this on "Broadway- The American Musical" PBS Documentary. Wonderfully brillant clip! Always gives me chills!
