I'm kinda with Luvinbroadway on this. I really don't have any desire to see Xanadu. Sorry.
I absolutely love the show, but hate this thread. Fanadus really need to review elementary school grammar. It's really embarrassing.
But yay for Xanadu! Too bad about those who dismiss the show without seeing it. Many people have admitted to enjoying the show despite their preconceptions.
I will say that I wish Kerry Butler would do something about her diction, which is not great on the CD, but even worse in the theatre. My boyfriend (for whom English is a second language) didn't enjoy the show mainly because he couldn't understand a word she said or sang. I could barely follow her myself. She's the only cast member who drops most of her consanants. I'm really surprised both the director and music director let this go.

after watching this on the Tonys XANADU seems cheesy.
English IS my first language and I can barely understand a word she says.
It's interesting that the OP stated that the theater was 1/2 full while other people have said it was packed.
Not having been there myself, I can't speak towards the truth. But I wonder if people think that by adding that detail (for better or worse) it adds any validity to their analysis.
Just interesting.
gypsy4 - It's a campy spoof. Have you not heard about the show?
To the original poster- your xanadu posts are redundant!
Went by the box office yesterday (had to get my tic to see Curtis !)
Was told that business is going much better than expected.
Good to hear !

everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but you can't expect to bash Xanadu without getting bashed yourself
