re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

Pretty decent picks, all in all. But I really wish DROWSY CHAPERONE had won over JERSEY BOYS.

Hooray Jersey Boys!

Awesome for Jersey Boys and especially for John Lloyd Young. Kind of surprised that Jim Dale won Featured Actor, but maybe that's because I kind of forgot about him in the category. I'm really happy.

Well for What these Awards are worth or even meritt...

YAY YAY YAY for Beth Leavel...keep on winnin' them hun - YOU DESERVE EVERY AWARD YOU PICK UP THIS SEASON & More!

I too wish DROWSY would have taken the top slot...but it makes sense for the OCC to reward JB. After all these are the people who nominated Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for best Musical last year. I hope this is where the Jersy love ends as far as awards are concerned.

Gabriel Byrne I can understand I guess...but to overlook Cynthia Nixon as a nominee and give the Award to Lois Smith is a bit puzzling to me...and then I realize who is giving these awards away and it starts to make more sense. And as much as I admire De La Tours work...that role just isn't broad enough to be taking home Theatre Awards. JMHO.

Mostly what I expected. Very Nice re: Outer Critics Circle Winners
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

The set design for DROWSY is extremely clever, I thought.

Was Gabriel Byrne a surprise to anyone else?

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

Well, Lois Smith gave, along with Ebersole in Grey Gardens, the performance of the year in Trip To Bountiful. Nixon was terrific, but Smith was sheer genius. I also think de la Tour deserved the award over Hallie Foote (The Trip to Bountiful), Jan Maxwell (Entertaining Mr. Sloane), and Lynn Redgrave (The Constant Wife)

Yes, I think Byrne is a surprise. I personally would chosen Ian McDiarmid or David Wilmot over him.

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

I'm slightly disapointed that Harry Connick Jr. lost. If anyone should have beat him, it should have been Michael Ceveris.

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

Young is probably the favorite for the award. Connick has a beautiful voice and charisma (when he's singing), but he's no actor, at this point in his career. When I saw him, he was wooden and delivered half of his lines to the tops of his shoes.

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

Hmmmm....... the official press release (which is what I cut and pasted) has Jersey Boys as the winner, as so does BWW in its official story. But Playbill is rarely wrong.

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

playbill.com also says that it's the 55th, not the 56th year of the awards...I think playbill.com must be incorrect...written in haste perhaps...

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

Playbill is wrong. Jersey Boys won Best Musical.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

re: Outer Critics Circle Winners

I still think Lupone will win the Tony. She's lucky Ms. Ebersole isn't Tony eligible - She'll be watching Ebersole take the Drama Desk next week.
