PACE University Musical Theater Program??

Does anyone know anything about this program, and others? I just finished my junior year of high school and am now trying to figure out what college to attend. I plan to major in musical theater and am having trouble finding the schools with that program. Thank you for all your help.

The first thing you need to decide is:
Whether you are going to pursue a conservatory program
or a Liberal Arts program with musical theatre major. This will be a huge impact as to where you would apply.

I went to Pace. Their musical theatre program is fantastic. I didn't look at many other places, but I highly enjoyed the atmosphere at Pace.

Do not waste your time with this program. It is very mediocre - if not less than mediocre. I have many friends that either still go there or did go there at one time, and I have seen a bunch of their productions. They were all terrible. Seriously.

Just curious what shows you saw Munk. They do seem to be getting a bit better, but some were VERY sad, I must say! I think my personal favorite (not a musical, but whatever) was The Children's Hour, w/ what was quite possibly the saddest set I have EVER seen! Seriously, I think they used Saran-Wrap for the windows! YIKES! It's pretty sad when a high school in NH w/ zip for a budget and their stage in the cafeteria can blow a college production out of the water (set and talent wise, sadly). *sigh* I miss my high school theatre program.

Actress_06, I'd suggest trying to catch a show at Pace (and any other schools you're thinking of applying to) if at all possible. I'm not sure where you're coming from, but if it's at all feasible, I'd say it's totally worth it to see for yourself.

I've looked at Ithaca a little bit, and It's out of my price range. Although I'm still considering it. Hopefully I'll be able to find a college that is willing to pay a little for me. I'm still looking though. Thanks for the help, and anyone else want to add anything?

C'est moi...again. I'd just say that although Pace certainly isn't the best school out there (theatre or otherwise). It is still New York City. If some other great schools for musical theatre are out of your price range, I can say that from what I've heard from friends who are in Pace's musical theatre dept, they do occasionally get some interesting guest speakers, etc. Plus, I maintain that there are times that you can learn just as much from going to the theatre regularly, which isn't necessarily a viable option at other schools. There are ups and downs to every university. Just try to be as informed as possible before making the big decision!
