This show is coming here in January, I guess I'll be seeing it on stage and then on TV, can't wait.
I am a Billy Joel fan but I refused to pay to see this show. I just don't like Jukebox type shows. I will admit that I saw "Hot Feet" in June. I just had to because I am a BIG fan of EWF and I was hearing how bad it was, so I just had to go and see it for myself! but I hear Movin' Out is good. I will watch it on PBS.
What a skewed thought process on how to spend your money as a theatergoer. You "refused" to pay to see MOVIN' OUT because you just don't like "Jukebox" type shows but after hearing how bad HOT FEET was, you just had to go see it for yourself?
So you refuse to see good theater that has gotten good word of mouth simply because it falls into the "jukebox" category, but if something gets across the board pans and has the worst word of mouth in town, you'll dish out your cash just to see how bad the show is?
Hey, it's your money. But if you want to see a train wreck, all you have to do is turn on the 5 o'clock news.
Why can't he think Movin' Out is crap? I didn't like it, but that's only because I feel it's incorrectly marketed. I already know I don't like ballet. Had the show been marketed as a ballet instead of a musical, I would have known to stay away from it. Instead, I went, and I knew 15 minutes into it that it was just a ballet (with pop music rather than classical -- but still a ballet), and that I wasn't buying it.
Art often reaches beyond labels (as do human beings and any other part of life). Not every piece of art can be neatly tucked into a cardboard box.
