In spring, 2007.
It hasn't been taped yet, so I'm assuming it's the road cast.

I've been asking for this since I first saw the show in previews. Thank you theatre gods for answering my prayers!
I don't at all think its unlikely to assume some of the original leads (who closed the show last spring) might come back for this taping!
Elizabeth Parkinson and Keith Roberts were still perfomring their original roles in the tour when I saw it this year.
The perfect way to view it - in the theater you can't put Joel's music on mute.
I was so upset I didnt get to see this live, so this will be the next best thing! I can't wait!
Thank you Theater Gods! oping for Original cast too.
Sorry you don't like Joel's music, Rath.
I personally consider him to be one of the greatest musicians/composers of the 20th century. His music is grasping and every song tells a story.
I am so happy they'll be airing this. It's definitely something I will treasure in my video library.
I hope they release it on DVD.
"His music is grasping"
You can say that again.
And for the record - yes, this probably will eventually be released on dvd - GREAT PERFORMANCES has a stipulation in their contracts for that - its LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER that can only be aired once.
Good to hear, MB.
Yup, this will be released on DVD. ALL the Great Performances programs are: FOSSE, SOUTH PACIFIC in CONCERT, CANDIDE in CONCERT, all those Sondheim shows, etc. Only the LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER programs are never released on DVD due to those 'rights' issues.
I'm also one not in the Billy Joel camp. I didn't much care for the show, and thanks to the oversaturation of Joel's music, I can no longer listen to anything by him because I so identify it with the crap that was "Movin' Out".
I'm completely indifferent to Joel's music, and didn't care much for the show either. I've never been a fan of ballet, and no matter what others say, I firmly believe Movin' Out is a ballet -- not a musical.
Anyway, the only appealing thing to me about Movin' Out was the adorable and very talented Michael Cavanaugh. Unless he's on the broadcast, I don't think I'm interested.

Ahhh, this news is great. Pray to God that Rasta Thomas's Eddie will be preserved in this video.
I am a Billy Joel fan but I refused to pay to see this show. I just don't like Jukebox type shows. I will admit that I saw "Hot Feet" in June. I just had to because I am a BIG fan of EWF and I was hearing how bad it was, so I just had to go and see it for myself! but I hear Movin' Out is good. I will watch it on PBS.
defimatley extremely excited about this. i loved the show when i saw it. the energy of the cast was incredible.
uncageg...you don't like Jukebox type but you saw Hot Feet? Consider yourself blessed that this is being televised, then. THANK YOU PBS.
Hoping they'll bring Selya in for it.
I found this show surprisingly moving. I'm glad they're preserving it.

Thank you, Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!
"... because I so identify it with the crap that was "Movin' Out"."
Um...please tell me you're joking.
Why can't he think Movin' Out is crap? I didn't like it, but that's only because I feel it's incorrectly marketed. I already know I don't like ballet. Had the show been marketed as a ballet instead of a musical, I would have known to stay away from it. Instead, I went, and I knew 15 minutes into it that it was just a ballet (with pop music rather than classical -- but still a ballet), and that I wasn't buying it. By that same token though, I wouldn't ever judge it as "crap" or "bad," since I don't feel like I'm qualified at all to pass judgment on a ballet.
I'm thinking that was more a response to not being able to listen to ANY of Billy Joel's music anymore on the basis of thinking the show was crap.
Yay. Never got around to seeing this show, and then it closed, lol.
Can't wait.
This is great news!!! Can't wait to see this.
I'm torn...I love John Selya's portrayal of Eddie, but have always loved to see Rasta Thomas' take on the same character.
