Mr. Diddy should provide money for this production, especially since the theater community, a little foolishly I might add, was way too kind to him during his stint in "Raisin". If low income kids can spend thousands on his "Sean John" clothing line and support his other mediocre endeavors, surely he can donate a few thousand to a production that aids his mentor, Mrs Rashad.
I'm sorry, but what a nasty and rather myopic post on what might be a positive -- Combs helping financially bail out a show in trouble. Why attack him? "Should" is a pretty loaded word here about donations to any cause. If it helps GEM, it will be a great gift, perhaps, yes, even payback of a sort. But whether the theater community was "...way too kind to him" or not, I don't thing Sean Combs is responsible for rectifying the demise of serious drama on broadway. Dare I say, the causes are more complex and troubling. One man who appeared in a limited run revival -- that made money for all, including Ms. Rasahad -- hardly has an obligation. And Puffy has been getting out the vote -- far more compelling work this season, hardly a "mediocre" endeavor. As old 60s types used to say, he's more a part of the solution than part of the problem.
Took the words right out of my mouth, Auggie.
I will add that none of us have the right to decide what any other person should or should not do with their money.

Pfft. The theater community didn't "let" Combs perform on Broadway out of the kindness of their collective hearts- he was probably the reason the Raisin revival happened in the first place. You could easily argue that Broadway owes him one, but this isn't about obligations or debts, unless you count the monetary kind. I hope Combs will help bail out the show, but I won't despise him if he doesn't. It's also not his fault that the fact that he's being courted got leaked.
