re: PEREZ HILTON Musical for Off-Broadway

It's actually a 2008 NY Fringe Festival musical, so it's not even close to Off-Broadway.

And no, you're not alone.

"Kathy Griffin will be depicted as a villain."

She'll love that. Hope she mentions it on her show.

If it ends with him getting disemboweled and having his entrails crammed down his throat I might enjoy it.

Oh...just out of NYU...of course. When the hell is Generation Y going to grow up, get over this "celebrity culture" thing they created and start showing some taste already?

The tragically sad thing is, it will probably be the hit of the festival no matter how sucky it is or isn't.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

re: PEREZ HILTON Musical for Off-Broadway

While I fully admit to reading Perez on a regular basis (and enjoying it somedays) this idea makes me want to vomit too.

I think an idea like this could work only if it was a satirical commentary on how much, in today's culture, undue importance and attention is placed gossip blogs and the so-called "news" they report.
"As we all should probably have learned by now, to be a Stephen Sondheim fan is to have one's heart broken at regular intervals" - Frank Rich

Dearest, how can this be so? You were dead, you know. - Candide

Oh my god, this show has everything! Half naked guys and girl on girl action! - [title of show]

I don't know, I think this might be good. One of the creators is the GOD HATES MUSICALS guy. I found it from a previous thread on this board. His blogs are incredibly witty and satirical and does a really good job making roundabout jabs at the people he's portraying

re: PEREZ HILTON Musical for Off-Broadway

I either threw up in my mouth at the thought of anything in theater being dedicated to/inspired by Perez Hilton, or at the fact I go to the same school as the writers.

Either way, I just threw up in my mouth. yuck.

Anything that generates more public attention and press for Perez Hilton can't be good, satirical or not.

Having just been cast in the show and having read the script, I can tell you that that show is quite funny, well-written, and totally pokes fun as the media obsessed and all those things the public tends to salivate over. It is satirical farce. You make not like Perez Hilton, but I think you may like the show. I may be biased given the situation, but I read the script BEFORE I auditioned and still went it. So there ya go...

And if you hate it, s'all good too.

Hey, it could be brilliant!

...or a trainwreck. You know, life imitating art and all that. :)
"It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. But where it truly must survive is in our actions, our compassion and our generousity of spirit towards one another." - Adam Pascal on the closing of RENT

re: PEREZ HILTON Musical for Off-Broadway

Didn't someone say on a thread a while back, that this Hilton guy was going to add a "BWAY" section next year to his gossip blog?
And you thought Mrs.Walsh Smith was airing Bway dirty laundry! Hope this isn't true.
