I love it when the reference Broadway.
"Take ya mask off, c'mon, lets see the ugly sidaya face! Take it off so I can go home! That nose better me piggish!"
In the episode where Peter butchers a production of The King and I he says
"Hey if you wanna do a bad show why don't we just do RENT."
And when Brian takes Stewie to see Les Mis and a change in cast announcement is made before the show.
"The role of Jean Valjean will be played by Kirk Cameron"
Stewie: "Oh my god! Oh we are sooo lucky!! 'Hey Stewie what were you doing last night?' 'Oh nothing just watching KIRK CAMERON play Jean Valjean!!!' Oh my gosh, curtain up!!!"
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

anyone think Seth MacFarlane, Ron Jones and Walter Murphy should write a musical for broadway, not based on FG but just a completely original concept?

Hahha no man...one ofmy favorite Family Guy theatre references is the episode when Lois gets the job to direct "King and I", and you see on the TV that the local theatre director died...and they show a clip of him doing "Miss Saigon"
It's just an old dude holding his eyes up to make them look Asian, saying "lalalala miss saigon, lalalalala miss saigon".
I have seriously never laughed so freaking hard in my LIFE.

Posted: 7/3/06 at 11:00pmI love the CATS one. The RENT comment had me stratching my head - well, I like it. But the Phantom one was so funny because it's so true. And then the guy next to him is like "shut up" and Peter says, "you shut up."

The creators of Family Guy are definitely musical buffs--even down to their opening number, hardly an episode goes by where they don't reference Broadway.
Wasn't there a West Side Story reference once? I heard about it second-hand but I never got a clear idea of what the parody was...

Posted: 7/4/06 at 11:53amYeah, in the episode with Stewie's first birthday Meg is complaining about not fitting in and Peter tries to make her feel better by explaining that he didn't fit in either in high school and then they flash to Peter and the Jets dancing. Peter screws up and one guy says Damn it Peter! and Peter replies, hey, I thought we were gling to go fight the sharks and the guy is like not without 6 years of ballet and 2 of jazz you're not, or something along those lines.

Carol Channing boxing Mike Tyson was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on that show.
And it makes it even funnier that it really was Channing.
"You're going down young man!"
Mike pops her in the face, she falls down and jumps back up.
"Is that all you got you sonovabitch?"
