You know what's funny? When Sweeney was all the rage around here, there must have been a person a day who wrote Manoel's last name as Feliciano instead of Felciano. It was usually met with an angry outburst by an obsessed fan.
And yet, if you go directly to Playbill's page and read the caption below it...

Best proof-reading ever; they got his name right in the text, but not on the photo caption. ^_^
No offence to the non-giddy non-fangirls, but I'd been thinking for months Mano would make a good George before they announced it. To quote cliches, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, aight? ;D

The photographer did an amazing job, that picture is gorgeous.
Jason Alexander does not have a great reputation as a director so I would not judge O'Hara's or Felciano's acting on this particular production though.

Playbills' proofreader(s) should be fired - the mistakes are rampant in nearly every article posted.
Photo is gorgeous, though.

Posted: 1/31/07 at 6:59pmI love me some Mano and Kelli O too! This photo is pretty cool and I like the lighting concept. But the London production is far more worthy (and deserving?) of a Broadway transfer, if it's even considered.

i saw the show in its invitation dress rehearsal, and i was blown away. the first act especially. kelli was....beyond flawless. her dot was full of energy and life but yet so vulnerable. mano was great, very stern, very believeable that he wasn't a prick, he was just passionate about his art.
the second act was a bit of a let down after the first, but not too bad. the only thing it really had going for it was kelli as marie. shes flawless. its impossible not to be glued to this woman. shes a phenomenal performer.
the set is brilliant, and costumes are genuis.
its just splendid.
if you can, go see it please!!!!!!

Posted: 2/1/07 at 1:37pmDramaqueen, I saw it Tuesday and have to disagree. I didn't see her as full of energy--I saw her struggling because she didn't really have a handle on the character. I think she's got a good Dot in her but I think she needs a good director and more rehearsal time. I didn't see Mano in Sweeney but I came away from this wondering what all the talk was about--he seemed miscast and at sea to me. I think Alexander's concept--while interesting--doesn't really come off. Maybe with more rehearsal time but too much of the onstage action seemed to be about moving the set around and not enough on a satisfying emotional throughline. It was dissapointing because I love this show and was excited about seeing O'hara again.
