PIAZZA (6/8/05 Evening)

I saw The Light in the Piazza again tonight. Once again, it was beautiful. It is such a breathtaking show. Matt seemed a little out of it, though. He cracked on a few notes and he didn't project as well as he usually does. Seems like he's a little under the weather. I met him at the stage door and he could barely talk. Ah, poor him. But I did meet Adam Guettel, apparently he was at the show tonight! That was awesome to say the least. I also met the entire cast and Ted Sperling. All lovely. And Michael Berresse is just a great guy. I talked to him for a little bit, he remembered me when I saw the show a few weeks ago. He agreed with me that Piazza is the best of the four Tony-nominated shows, although he's probably a little biased, ha. He also said that there has been a "whisper" that Piazza may be extending until the end of the year. He said ticket sales have boomed incredibly (the house was nearly packed tonight) and they've sold so many tickets into September. So it may extend. They just have to work out contracts and stuff like that I think he said.

On a side note, there were a few [Hollywood] celebrities at the show tonight including Ana Gasteyer, Julianne Moore, Randy Harrison, and someone else I'm forgetting. O and a very pregnant Spencer Kayden was there also. It was pretty cool seeing all of them. They were all at the stage door as well, all in awe of the performers. They seemingly were very impressed with the show.

Ah, another lovely night at the theatre.

I cannot wait to return to NYC so I can see it at least one more time -- but it must extend. It must!

I saw the show on Tuesday and everyone sounded great! full house then too. tho something strange happened with the power because of some fire two blocks away and the lights all went out about 10 mins before the show ended...

Ah! He He...what did they do about it?

And when you say the stars were at the stage door like Ana and Julianne....weren't they coming out of the stagedoor or were they just waiting?

Well, they first went inside. And then they came out with some of the actors from the show. They were sitting two rows in front of me, so I already knew that they were there.
