Hi.
I know it truly doesn't make a difference in the overall arc at the time of the show, but do most people agree that Marvin ends up with / dying from AIDS as well? OR, Is he perhaps (somehow almost cruelly) left to linger even longer with his loss after the show ends. Such a goth question, I know, but I've been spending a LOT of time around this show lately, and the speculation just eats at you.
Also, isn't there a difference in the feelings towards the quality of Cordelia's food in the two different revivals? I feel like the first time around, it was taken as: she was a successful kosher caterer (who was trying to expand) and the whole inadequacy thing ("you save lives and I save chicken fat / I can't ****ing deal with that!"
was more from an egotistical place, where in the newest revival she really is just kind of an underdeveloped character (at least the least developed in the cast, not Betsy's fault) and her food is bad all the way until the end, so her life-path gets to have its own little glimmer before the world of the show collapses.
THIRD and finally, Jason and his traveling song, he "gets on the 104 / with my computer"
DAMN, son...really? In 1981? That thing probably weighed 125 lbs. Strong kid.

There's a line Charlotte has in the "Something Bad" reprise that I think heavily implies that Marvin is next. The line about it being spread from man to man or whatnot.
I was kindof surprised by the computer line too, maybe he meant a game system?? Even though there weren't really any handhelds in 1981.

agreed about the catering being handled differently in this revival, strange that imply she's not very good and doesn't even expand.
i never got the notion that Marvin had AIDS as well (since it was known that Whizzer screws around with other guys and wasn't into monogamy, plus i assume he contracted it while the two were split up) but it is a very grim thought that i'm sure Finn left hanging for dramatic effect
as for the computer...sounds like an anachronism. the original recording of falsettoland doesn't mention the specific year but it was written in 1991 when computers were much smaller and (if Mr Nowack is on the right track) handheld game systems existed, which i'm not sure about after they made Falsettos take place specifically in 1979 and 1981 (unless that was referred to in the original recordings and i missed it somehow after dozens of listenings over the years)

When I saw the original FALSETTOS in 1993 I remember several times comments were made or faces or attitudes shown that said Cordelia started off as a pretty bad cook but got better over time> So much so that when Dr. Charlotte said "Oh yummy" it was Cordelia's happy ending moment. Or something like that. But, I definitely remember Mandy Patinkin (who was playing Marvin by that point) making a couple "ew gross" faces at food Cordelia brought with her into some scenes.
