I loved the movie, you can bet I'll be buying it.
I still want my money back from seeing it on the screen. The Minnie Driver scenes were the only bits worth watching.
I might be using skip on certain songs that a certain Mr. B sings (in a loose interpretation of the word). But I loved Minnie D. She was wonderful!
YEAH, not buying it.

Maybe later today i will be sniped for saying this, but Minnie Driver was my least favorite part of the movie. She didn't even do her own singing...not like she could hit those Carlotta notes anyway, but c'mon! it totally ruined some of the movie-musical feeling for me...I hate it that she was lip-syncing over a singing voice that wasn't her's, i couldn't really get over it and enjoy the movie 100%...
but i do love her singing on "Learn to be lonely."

dtbg2....I kind of admire Minnie Driver for being willing to lip synch the part, rather than attempt to screech out the role. It shows a little humility....Now, if only a few MORE actors in the movie had been willing to do the same thing...

...the only thing i didnt like about his appearance in the movie was the hair...other than that he was awesome!
Here's the only good thing about its "so-so" receptional at the box office......that we get it earlier!!!!!! If it won best picture, we'd have to wait until August or something......

Maybe the choice wasn't theirs to make...
I totally think more people should have lip-synced ::Cough::Butler::Cough::

DTBG2-- to play devil's advocate, have you seen West Side Story? How about My Fair Lady? Sound of Music?
All of these featured actors/actresses lip-synching to other's voices (Bill Lee for Christopher Plummer in SOM, Marni Nixon for Natalie Wood in WWS and Audrey Hepburn in MFL).

MagicToDo: Are you picking on G.Butler? Awww. Sometimes I think that I am the only person who like his Phantom.

Timote: I've seen My Fair Lady..and Liked it, but it still ruins some of the whole movie-musical feel for me as soon as i find out that the actor is not using their real voice...I enjoyed MFL, but not 100%...its my own pickyness, and bitchiness...im seeking therapy, and no..i dont want to talk about it.
**West Side Story is awesome...

Fair enough, I know what you mean. To be honest, the fact she wasn't singing stuck in my head when she was on the screen, but it didn't really ruin the film for me. She was great anyway.
And you aren't the only one who enjoyed Gerard. Granted, he wasn't the best vocally, but I enjoyed what he brought to the role. I can't explain what that is, but...
Trust me, you are not the only one who enjoyed(loved in my case) Gerry as the Phantom. Edit...I basically typed exactly what I did in my first post in this thread about Gerry. Oops. Still think he's great.
