POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

I was just wondering...are there any HARDCORE phantom show fans here that are NOT going to buy the film when its release next month? renting it is okay...but as far as owning your own copy forever, is that where you draw the line?

re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

Gerry made even my father (a die-hard POTO fan) turn off the Cast Recording in disgust, so I think I'll rent it instead of buying.

"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness. Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings. Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end. But end it does. Another part of you vanishes. That's show business."-Anonymous

re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

I put a $5 down payment hold on it at Suncoast, but after all the negativity in regards to the voice of Gerard Butler, I think I'm gonna call them and cancel it!!

re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

Yaaay, Zeppie's countdown hit single digits today. Soo excited. Definitely buying it. Kinda funny, BSo likes the skip feature in terms of Gerry while I am soo very thankful for the repeat/rewind feature in terms of Gerry...particularly PONR. Mmmmm.

Tenor, I still think it's a great film and well worth the purchase. If you're a fan of the show, at the very least, you enjoy the story/songs and in my opinion what Gerry loses in songs he more than makes up with in acting, passion and chemistry with Emmy. But I do understand if you'd rather rent it first to see how you like it.

I walked out of the theatre when I saw it, so I will NOT waste my money on it!!!! I already wasted 8.75. That is enough!!!!

re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

Well, i'm going to buy it. i loved Emmy Rossum. And i thought G. Butler held his own as the Phantom...i dont know, i like his voice. and nothing beats the beginning of the film, the chandelier igniting and lifting with the phantom theme...awesome overture scene! yeah, yeah..all in all..i liked it, and will buy it.

re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?

Am australian and I bought the DVD the other day. It's worth buying just for the special features (not sure if they will be the same where you guys are), there is a great documentary on the musicology of the show with footage of the live stage production. And a great behind-the-scenes thingy!

DTBG2: I completely forgot about the opening, which I agree was absolutely stunning. Now you've got me contemplating buying it.

Please don't let other opinions influence your own instinct. Rent it first if you have doubts.

Edited to add that my copy is on pre-order from Amazon. re: POTO DVD, not gonna buy?
