I just went and bought mine and watched the "Behind the Mask" segment about the stage show and let me say that that 'extra' was worth the $21 I payed for the dvd. Anyway, to the actual movie itself, I have not watched yet but I saw the movie 3 times in theaters so I am pretty sure I will still like it. When I was in line at Wal-Mart, the woman in front of me had a POTO dvd in her hand and I had this HUGE smile on my face. Anyone else buy it yet?

We actually got it yesterday, because my sister ordered the DVD from the UK because supposedly it has more special features. It's kind of funny, because it's rated 12+ as oppose to PG 13.
The 'Behind the Mask' documentary is already my favorite part. You're right, it's totally worth the money for the DVD just because of that.
Im looking forward to getting my copy of it. Cant wait to see all the extras

and it's still playing this week in the cheap theatre.
The BIG SCREEN experience just one more time...

I just came home with my 2-disc special edition DVD! YAY!
I have just watched the 'behind the mask' documentary and it is definitely worth buying the DVD for, even if you didn't think much of the film. It's a very interesting insight into the making of both the film and the stage show. I personally loved the film, and can't wait to watch it this evening!

Is there any footage from the Broadway or London production? I was watching the commercial for the DVD and I could have sworn that I saw Michael Crawford as the Phantom. It didn't look like a clip from the film.
Heh, I thought I'd be among the first to get it/watch it/post about it. Oh well. Got it at Best Buy for $23, cheapest of like 4 stores. Started the movie a little, can't help myself, I just love it...and now I get to watch Music of the Night and Point of No Return over and over... I'll probably get through all the features later in the day and post about those. It's kinda odd they don't have a commentary, almost all special edition DVDs do. Oh well.

I thought it came out on the 31.

What is the difference between the one and two disc set? Are there more special features?
Joshua, as I understand it, some music videos from the Phantom's early days are included in the extras. This would likely include Michael Crawford singing Music of the Night. I also understand that there are some film bits of the London production with John Owen Jones as the Phantom.
Ashley, I don't think the one disc version has any extras.

I got mine at Borders for about $22. The picture quality is great. I watched the doc about the stage show and the deleted scene. I am going to watch the movie documentary later on.

I assume everyone saw it in the theater? I am a little nervous about getting it and watching it at home because it is so big and such a spectacle in the theater that I'm afraid watching it on a small screen will ruin it. Anyone watched it that can help me?

I will miss the sound and picture on a big screen, but I was not in any way disappointed.
just turn all the lights off and sit real close to your TV.
I just got home with mine. Can't wait. I have a HUGE screen television, so I will see EVERYTHING.
Thank GOD I don't have to watch AI tonight, I can't take another night of Scott!
i had to leave school early... instead of staying till 3:20 i left at 2:45 after the kids left... i had a "doctors appointment"
no, actually i really did have an appointment... i just had to leave earlier to stop at work... and i got the 2 disc for only $19.45... but thats cuz i had the employee discount
Okay, just finished the movie on DVD...for the 8th time. Hehe. Added on about 45 minutes watching certain scenes twice, looking for things I might have caught once in my first 7 showings, etc. There is something missing from the big screen, but in my opinion it is so worth it to have the ability to replay scenes and well breathe and sigh heavily without someone thinking you're nuts in a movie theatre. I did notice the bars to make it widescreen seem kinda bigger than on most DVDs. Oh well. Will post back after I watch the features.

I woke up at 8 this morning and went to Fred Meyer, just for the POTO DVD. I got the 2 disc special DVD...So AWESOME!!
G. BUTLER ROX MY SOX. and the special features are the best! I've been watching the dvd all day non-stop...love it.
I've been to three places here in San Diego and they all had the 1 disk but nobody had the 2 disk special edition. I'm gonna have to get it on-line probably. I was stupid for thinking they'd have em. what the hell...

The documentaries are absolutely incredible! I learned so much, and I adore the clips of the stage version! I'm at a loss for words right now. Astounding!
