Please not Groben....
First of all it's GrobAn. Second of all PLEASE Josh. He'd make an amazing Raoul. Not sure why they have him slated as the Phantom... The other guy is the one who should not be around this.
Forgive my ignorance. Would there be any way to hear this in the US?
I've never been a Groban fan, but I'd like to hear this.
please no!

I'd like to hear it if it's a broadcast of a complete performance.
He sang "Music of the Night" for Andrew Lloyd Webber Kennedy Center ceremony. It looked like his eyeballs would burst out when he tried to reach the high note. It wasn't a nice picture.
Link for BBC Radio 2 is below. It's likely this program, when it airs, will be available on the website's "Listen Again" feature for those who might not be able to listen when it originally airs.
Eponine Amneris, since Lee Mead understudied the role of Raoul before going into Joseph, it's probably why they have him listed as Raoul. As for Josh Groban playing the Phantom -- personally I don't think it's a good idea. He wasn't impressive to me in the Kennedy Center program, nor did he sing very well when he dueted with Sarah Brightman at -- I think it was the Diana Memorial concert last summer.

At least you won't be able to see that on the radio. Although if you could, that's quite a trick.
thank god for the Phrase "contractual arrangements have not yet been made"
Personally I would love to hear this (dont know why they have not had a concert before now. Just not Josh as the Phantom. (or any of the recent westend phantoms either)

Trust me, I think it actually sounded like his eyeballs were bursting too. It was rather like upscale karaoke with a live orchestra.

This is wonderful news. I don't really care who's in it. It'll be nice to have a complete recording of the score. Personally, I think they should make a commercial release out of it, but if they don't I'm sure someone will be able to record the broadcast.
I actually happened upon that video on YouTube a couple days ago. For as beautiful as his voice is in some of his songs, and his apparent great range, I was very disappointed. He struggled at that note, and the rest was a fake darkness I didn't enjoy.
I agree, he'd make a better Raoul than Phantom, but since he's a big name they want him in the title role.
In case those interested in didn't already know...
