Hopefully this will mean that we won't see anyone else try to price tickets this ridiculously, at least for another few years.
That's obscene. Obviously, the people who can afford to pay those prices truly have nothing else to do with all their money. They should sponsor a chorus member.
Let this lame idea from the PRODUCERS producers be a cautionary tale for all. LOL
Ya know...there have always been people who have more money than they know what do do with. I am not one of them, alas. ![]()
Who's to say that if someone WANTS to drop that much on an evening, and if they can do it...why shouldn't they?
I drop money on stuff other people may think is insane. Like that $ 50 pair of Salt & Pepper shakers I bought on Ebay last night!
It probably would have sold better as a charity function. People with sort of money tend to know what to do with it in the first place.

It's amazing that they are not learning from their earlier nearly fatal mistakes, I would of imagined Rocco would of bee na bit cautious this time around...
Sponsor a chorus member!!!!!!!!
I like that Mister Matt.

Obscene = Mister Matt in NBS

I totally agree. I just got home and saw this new on playbill'ssite and knew there would be something on here about it. I had a feeling this would happen. People (including myself) spend thousands of dollars on tickets all the time for CHARITY (ex: Actors' Fund) and even then, they get more than just a performance and a glass of champagne. Even if you didn't you would know it was for a good cause.
Maybe if they had promoted it as a charity event it would've sold. Maybe not. Maybe too many people just don't want to be anywhere near the madness that is Times Square on New Years.
Hm......I wonder if we will ever see the words "The Producers" (with Lane and Broderick) and "flop" in the same posting again...
A few weeks ago I was wondering what was happening with this $1500 "event" when I was told where the cast WOULD be celebrating New Year's Eve -- and it wasn't at this party! So, if the cast, esp. Lane and Broderick, weren't going to be at the Minskoff bash, the paying customers were going to be disappointed BIG TIME. By the way, N & M are not in agreement with anything related to the "greed factor".
It's absurd what they are charging for tickets to see these two actors. I hate that theatre is such an amazing experience and most folks can't afford it. And to jack up your ticket prices just so you can pay your overly inflated star salaries is ridicously. Broadway should not be just a luxary for the rich.
So its good they cancelled it altogether.

The producers should be ashamed of themselves.
