re: Pacific Overtures Revival

I went with my mom and we loved it. It was beautifully
directed and designed. As for "Next," I really enjoyed what
they did with it. It was logical that they traveled through
time to bring us to the modern world...showing us Japan
NOW. Overtures doesn't take place all that long ago,
so showing us how far they've come and what's been
established (despite the terrifying bomb moment) since
America's first encounter with Japan.

re: Pacific Overtures Revival

I agree, I sat in the balcony and the view overall to take in was just terrific.
once a month, I was at the wednesday matinee before closing when they filmed it. I rememebr a man dropped his sword into the stream and kind of looked slightly disoriented and then thrust his arm in to get it while sliding his sleeve up. Even that was done with grace. The cast was just not the typical run-of-the-mill ensemble you see on broadway. Each seemed to bring something new and exciting to the show. Alvin was great and brought along his own history by reprising his role.
Certainly was an intriguing production that I am proud to have seen.
