This is really annoying. I wish they had normal prices for the benefits.
haha- well expect people to pay anything for tickets for this show
They should have regular prices for the last week - they're just trying to soak up as much money as they can before closing.
Why extend it at all if you just make it unaccessible?
Why extend it at all if you just make it unaccessible?
- Exactly.
I am dying to see this. But my family can't afford this.
GRRRRR MOTHER OF GOD!!!
I just spent a lot for a ticket 3 days ago!!!!
Grrr ....

--- Ummm .... NO its going for a BENEFIT NOT for profit. So
1) They ARENT trying to soak up as much moey as they can since its going to charity.
2) Its not about makine it unaccessible its about making money for charity

Oh, I assumed it would just be a Roundabout benefit basically and all the money would go to Roundabout.

my bad i am partially right, you are partialy right
"Proceeds will benefit the Actors' Fund of America, the New Orleans Habitat Musician's Village, and the Roundabout's Education Program and Musical Theatre Fund. "
They sell them for that high because they can. It's Roundabout Theatre people- they love money, really much like any Broadway producer.
Part of the money does go to Roundabout. Although it's nice to raise money for charity, aren't the shows basically doing that anyways with the fundraising at moment? Why make benefit performances?
Although it's nice, it's not really giving a chance to people that never got to see it. I know that I won't pay $250 for a ticket that will probably be rear mezz, as it's the cheapest they're offering for the last week.

That may not be true because the benefit concert at the Gershwin Theater last September for Hurrican Katrina had tickets from $100-$500 and I spent 100 and center orchestra tickets in row L.
Unless its Harry and Kelli that you're dying to see(and who isn't)... I'd say wait. I have a good feeling that they're trying to line up an extension. Even if it means bringing in new leads. I'm not trying to spread rumors, and I don't have any inside info, but personally I'm banking that they will extend even without the leads.
From the footage I've seen of the changed choreography, I'll be more than happy to experience this revival via cast recording.

i'm gonna faint and die of not surprise!
i had a feeling it would extend. i think the benefit idea is a great one! maybe they will still do the lottery?! i think donald trump should buy out the whole theater for a performance and disperse the tickets to families who wouldn't normally be able to afford going to the theater...thats what i think!
Out of curosity why WAS it a limited run show??
I mean a show that opened to such good reviews etc? Did they not htink it would do well? OR is that all the main stars wanted to do it for?
It was limited because Harry has other engagements to do this year, and is not able to extend it.
