Posted: 3/6/07 at 9:57pmI think it's a horrible idea and I seriously hope no one sees this, because with LOTR/TWS/Legally Blonde, I wouldn't put it past some stupid producer to attempt it. God help us if we leave well enough alone instead of raping it in an attempt to make a buck.

I haven't seen it yet but as far as I know it's an imaginative, provacative film with gorgeous visuals and a compelling story. Certainly sounds like a better idea for a musical than Adam Sandler Movie number 7.
*Cartman voice* "Um, movie idea number 302. Adam Sandler falls in love with, uh, a monkey professor, and has to go back to elementary school to woo her."
It's brilliant! Awesome-o should write musicals.

I could see it being better as an opera.
But jesus, I love that movie.

Posted: 3/7/07 at 12:59pmGreat film!! But it would be a disaster on stage.. I can't imagine the giant toad on stage being very thrilling. It would just look funny....

I'm not sure it would make such a bad choice. The fantasy elements to the movie are stunning for sure but are they necessary to the atmosphere? We are so conditioned by special FX now that even theatre goers like us see things in terms of visual effect now but if you take a look at plays like Midsummer Night's Dream, there is a lof that is unseen or staged in a different way but I bet if it had been a movie first, we'd have said... won't work on stage.
If the play is well conceived and stages, it could even be interesting unlike most movie transfers.
I hope the music is as good as the movie's score though because it was superb and it would be a pity not to expand on it.

Posted: 3/7/07 at 9:57pmI'd lvoe to see "The Labryinth" made into a movie the one with david bowie, it already has some awesome songs and it wouldn't be that hard to do. I love that movie, and the little catapillar when she first enters the maze, he's a cutie!

If you haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth, see it immediately. You won't be dissapointed. But you should know, it's in Spanish and there's english subtitles.
I always tell people that because I remember seeing it and my sister being furious that it wasn't in english. lol.
I thought it was better in Spanish anyways.
