It could come down to licensing. If everything is worked out for the show to be licensed to regional and amateur groups then the licensing company may step in and cover the remaining cost to release the album. But I have to wonder if a record label is even attached if Howland rented the studio himself. That doesn’t sound routine but my knowledge is limited.

Unpleasant for everyone involved with the show. I hope we won't wait years for the album and this issue will be resolved
