I realize this has probably been asked before but my search function is not being particularly helpful. Has anyone here ever sat in the partial view seating for American Idiot (Mezz or Orchestra)? If so, how much do you miss? Am I better off getting a $49 ticket in the balcony or rear mezz?

I would definitely get the balcony ticket. The first time I saw The Producers I was way up and way way way on the side, stage right. Anytime you're that far over, there's a tiny bit of obstruction, but I was just so happy to be there that it was just fine. And that's got to be better than having to strain to see around a post or some other obstruction.
Personally, I always try to get center seating, whether it's orchestra, mezz or balcony - - I'd rather have center than be closer and up on the side.
Having said that, however, I was perfectly content in my balcony side seat for The Producers. It's all about your state of mind.

I was in Row B Seat 14 partial view for the first preview and thought it was horrible. I felt it was wayy too close and to the side
(Note Lotto seats are close but AMAZING since they're in the center]
I've sat in G22 & G24 and they aren't bad seats
It was better when they were $37 I'm not sure they're worth $62
I've always been front row balcony and needed to lean forward a little but it wasn't terriable
I just wish they'd lower the partials from $62 back to $37 or maybe $40-45ish $62 is too much for partial view
