TRUMP RENAME

Illegal as it is, it's already a done deal.

Was going to insert a line of vomit emojis, but I see that's not an option....

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES Previews

re: I was talking to folks around me and this included elderly and young folks.

Elderly? Not meaning to be critical but unless you were talking about very old and infirm people, these were merely senior citizens. Most or all of whom would bristle at being termed "elderly." My own father is 90 and is so active that I wouldn't dream of describing him that way.

No big deal. Just a pet peeve of mine. I was a newspaper reporter and the word "eld

2025 Tony Awards Reactions Thread

I enjoyed the MHE performance, but agree with Jesse Green's take (which is somewhat of a rare thing for me to say):

“Never Fly Away” looked lovely enough in that excerpt from “Maybe Happy Ending” — but it is overwhelmingly beautiful in the actual staging at the Belasco Theater. See it there.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK To Air On CNN 6/7

re: The most surprising thing to me in the broadcast was the audience reaction to the video montage—when I saw this in March the audience was stunned and appalled; you could hear the gasps....

I agree. The gasps were very real when I saw it last month, in fact one month ago precisely. The last image had such punch. It didn't come across the same way on TV. Hard to gauge how different the atmosphere may have felt in the theater tonight. They may have been extra-f

My guess, and that's all it is, is that they're holding off on news about streaming availability until afterwards. They want the biggest audience possible tomorrow night. And Clooney clearly wants this to be a national conversation, the kind that must-see broadcast TV used to generate before we all had a million options.

Do we know this for sure? It seems like it would be, or should be, but I haven't seen it reported. Maybe they're holding off in order to build as big of a live audience as possible. Also, I saw Clooney float the possibility of taking the show to London. So maybe that's a factor, too.

I don't know, but I'd love to hear from anyone who does.

PIRATES! cast recording
 May 9 2025, 05:19:56 PM

p.s. FWIW in terms of the search engine here, the very first thing I entered into the BWW message board search box was precisely "Pirates! cast recording".

No hits. Nothing to see here, it tells me. And yet it turns out to be exactly the name of this thread....

PIRATES! cast recording
 May 9 2025, 05:14:16 PM

If anyone's wondering just how worthless Google AI is, I just searched in hopes of finding out when a PPM cast recording would be released (please, god!). Look what it told me. And guess what I found. Zip, zero, nada, of course. Then I came here to see if there was message board discussion of it...

From Google AI:

Yes, there is a cast recording for "Pirates! A Penzance Musical." It features the current Broadway cast, including David Hyde PierceRamin KarimlooJinkx MonsoonNicholas Barasch,Samantha Williams, and Preston Truman Boyd. You can find it on major streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

Reasons for weird pricing?

I am never rude to anyone on these boards and it's beyond me why you chose to be so snarky in your response. I couldn't care less if it's merely a pricing issue. I

Reasons for weird pricing?

Oh, I know. It''s crazy. I typically try to sit one row back from where ticket holders paid anywhere from c. $50-$100 more.

But this particular arrangement is odder than that. I can't remember which other recent show it was, might have been Mincemeat, but there was similar odd pricing in one particular row, with everything surrounding it costing upwards of $30-$40 more.

Guess I could try to call the box office and ask, though I'd be shocked to get an actual

Reasons for weird pricing?

This isn't the first time I've been perplexed by something like this, but I'm finally compelled to ask: Having had my Thursday matinee performance of BOOP! cancelled, I'm looking at other options and noticed that center-mezz row E is selling for $114, even though rows D and F are $139, as are the left and right sections of E.

So why the $25 drop for those center seats? Is there possibly some bank of lights hanging right above that are obstructive? Any answers (or gu

Thursday May 1 matinee?
 Apr 13 2025, 07:30:08 PM

Yeah, I took advantage of the 5 p.m. Thursday matinee of Oh, Mary! on my trip about six weeks ago. That was a last-minute addition. Hadn't realized it was option until I got up to the city that morning. Then saw Operation Mincemeat at 8 p.m.

That's interesting about The Outsiders and Cabaret, both of which I saw last season. I'd been thinking that the variations in schedules in April/May were to make it easier for Tony nominators and voters to catch each new show.

Thursday May 1 matinee?
 Apr 13 2025, 06:23:41 PM

As I mentioned on a separate thread, I received an email a couple of days ago informing me that the Thursday, May 8, matinee of Boop was cancelled and my ticket would be refunded.

Super bummed, as that aws a way to get a sixth show out of my trip in May.

Does anyone know of other shows with Thursday matinees or other irregular performance times prior to the Tonys? I've looked to some extent but come up empty.

BOOP! THE MUSICAL Reviews

Very bummed to get an email notifying me that Betty Boop's Thursday May 8 matinee — yes, Thursday — has been cancelled, and my ticket refunded.

A Thursday matinee of Gatsby last year was how I was able to cram a sixth show into what would have been a five-show trip.

I still have a couple of open slots but this season is so rich that I've had trouble narrowing down my list. And now I have to decide if one of the remaining slots is going be Boop. I

Real Women Have Curves - Broadway
 Apr 10 2025, 12:45:42 PM

I'm loving all this joy. RWHC wasn't even on my list for a 4-day, 6-show-trip next month, but it certainly is now.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a right mezz aisle seat — one row above where it would cost me an additional $89. But before I do, any particular seating suggestions?

Thanks!

Was just reading the “Smash” previews thread where, despite a measure of positivity, the critique is mostly critical.

It made me wonder to what extent producers/directors take message board discussions to heart and make meaningful changes. Obviously, shows adapt during the preview run. But I’m specifically curious about changes that any of you attribute to the influence of Broadway World and other theater communities online.

As for Smash, I'm hoping
