This is so sad. They've done many wonderful productions. They are closing when Camelot's run is up on Feb. 7.

This is very sad!
I literally just *TODAY* sent over an application there for an internship, too.

Posted: 1/29/10 at 9:42pmwow. I hope they don't tear it down to make room for retail, since it's across a mall. The place is breathtaking!

We have also been putting together a benefit for Haiti which is still taking place on Feb 1.
It is a very sad day indeed.

WHAT?!
I wonder if HAVANA, the newest Frank Wildhorn muscial which was scheduled for June, July or August THIS summer, will just debut in Tampa now or the Alley. Wow! This is shocking...

Posted: 1/30/10 at 1:17amThey cannot tear it down - it's a historic monument and can't be touched. While this press release was of absolute necessity, I don't think they're down quite yet.

It's too bad guys like those mentioned aren't stepping forward to help one of the places that gave them an early artistic home. That's one of the reasons I continue to admire Tom Hanks. He got his start at the Great Lakes Theatre (then Shakespeare) Festival in Cleveland and has not forgotten that, having returned several times over the years to do benefit performances for them, most recently to help them finish raising the final capital on the renovation of their new home, the Hanna Theatre.

Well, if Henry Fonda and Raymond Burr stepped forward it would be a miracle!
