Didn’t see a thread on this, but I went this afternoon since I had a friend in the show that I wanted to see and, naturally, you’d be a fool to skip Patrick Page in any Shakespearean role. It’s produced by Red Bull Theater, so it had a bit of that modernization in the vein that Michael Urie’s RICHARD II had, but nothing that was too distracting.

The first act felt like standard Shakespeare, but that’s where the setup really comes together and leads to a thrilling crescendo at the end of the act. The second act mines quite a bit of humor out of the, put politely, “injuries” of the characters, leading up to a major reveal before the big dinner scene that embraces both Grand Guignol horror and pure camp, which the audience enjoyed. They also use the entirety of the space with entrances and exits up and down the aisles.

Page was excellent - no surprise there. But his supporting cast, especially Francesca Farinday as Tamora, Anthony Michael Lopez as Lucius, and McKinley Belcher III (who, as seen in a brief sex scene, is built like a brick house) as Aaron The Moor.

It’s running through April 18th, though the hope to extend. I would say get your tickets for this because you’ll have a bloody good time.

Side note: The boxes are used in the show, so if you are on either of the extreme sides of the front orchestra, you may miss some of the action as it happens literally right over your head.
