Well, he was a last-minute fill in because John Leguizamo wasn't there and you could tell Conan had minimal prep and the audience really didn't know who Patrick was. The applause was just the usually prompted kind and they weren't really laughing at Patrick's jokes (and I think he's terribly clever/funny!)
Conan talked about Patrick's Dad and brother Mark being TV anchors at the same station in Tampa and asked Patrick about what it was like to have a family of anchormen. Then asked him about working with Al Pacino in AIA and, of course about The Full Monty. Patrick told a short version of the story about the night the lighting cues screwed up and they were fully illuminated for the finale...and the audience laughed more at Conan's remarks than at Patricks. Then they should a clip of Raoul riding into the Cemetery on his white charger (*le sigh*)
and the beginning of the sword fight. Patrick wasn't sure which clip it was so he couldn't prep it and Conan didn't ask about the movie at all...
It was obvious he was a filler guest. But a darned cute one. I just wish the audience had more of a clue as to he is. Now...if I'D been in the audience... :o)
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
