My Aunt Snookie, who suffers with a little arterial flow problem much like Bernice on Designing Women, has spent the last few weeks regaling my family with details on her New York City trip. After a delightful dinner at "Sardines" (that place with all the "cartoons" on the wall) they enjoyed the show GYPSY which starred, at least to her recollection, Patti LaBelle. On the street she bought my Uncle a "Rolodex" Watch (which might not be too far from the truth) and also tried a "Bugel" with Cream Cheese (which she loved).

We all feel blessed that she mad it home in one piece.

Bernice: I remember kissing a soldier in Times Square on VJ Day.

Mary Jo: Berniece, I never knew that you lived in New York!

Bernice: I don't know that I did, dear, but that's what I remember.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Damian: My nanna takes her wig off when she is drunk.
Ms. Norbury: Your nanna and I have that in common.

I'd imagine LaBelle's Rose carrying around a belt for most of the show for some reason.

is it so wrong to totally think.. HMMM that would be an interesting cast.

Patti LaBelle (Or even Lillias White)
Audra McDonald
Heather Headly
Brian Stokes Mitchell

at LEAST in concert.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

All jokes aside, if anyone is going to star as Mama Rose in a black production of Gypsy, it's going to be Tonya Pinkins.

And Anika Noni Rose.

That's all.

I've actually thought of Patti LaBelle as Mama before.

She would sound incredible on the songs.

And Anika is 35. Isn't she too old to play Louise? People were mad about Benanti, and she was only 28.

In my college days, I worked in a retail store where a woman in ladies' sportswear was very much like Aunt Snookie. She complained about having "very close veins" in her legs and thought that Jackie Kennedy was a very "chick" dresser. At lunch time she'd often ask for "cafe au lait with milk". Her favorite TV show was "The Carol Barnett Show" and she thought the New York Post was a "traploid newspaper".

Incidentally, I see her in town every once in a while. She's 92 years old and still going strong.

That's funny Dollypop. Just got off the phone with my brother. He said that Aunt Snookie is having trouble with her car's air conditioning. It's either too hot or too cold. She said that she needs to take her car to the dealer and have them check her "climax control" (as opposed to climate control). lol. We love her.

It's better than Audra. And I would've never guess Anika to be 35, even on screen she only reads to be in her late 20s at most.

I'm sorry, I just think she would kick copious amounts of ass as Louise.

The other day, my mom asked me how LaFonzy was and who played Baby Jane (she meant Louise).

Too bad Tonya wouldn't be able to get through the whole score safely...
