Patti had a brief interview on MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning. I honestly thought it got a little tense right off the bat, when they were talking about the use of the word diva. Otherwise, it was a fairly standard interview (although the discussion of what diva meant and to whom it should be applied ate up about 2 minutes of the allotted time)

oh, and Patti will be on Leonard Lopate's show today.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I love her singing voice, but boy, does she scare me.

'Diva' isn't the word that comes to mind.

I don't think it got tense at all. A fun, short, interview.

If anything the other woman was scarier.

Thanks for those, givesmevoice. I liked that bit of tension at the start. It gave LuPone a chance to confront the use of the word "diva" as a pejorative - that one person's "diva" is another person's strong woman - and she put the guys right in their place. She took control of the interview then and there. I truly do believe she gets a bad rap for being a professional and vocal about what she wants.
