Yay! She totally does deserve that...She was one of the founding members of the Acting Company! And it's cool that Angela Lansbury is giving the award to her. = )

Dude if anything, Patti doesn't get ENOUGH recognition..and as for her ego..well I think she has every right to think highly of herself.

The really "amazing" thing about LuPone is that she continues to get work. However it would appear that producers of new musicals have been on to her for decades as creating new roles does not seem to be her forte

Hmm... well considering there haven't been a lot of great leading lady roles lately, I think she's done very well for herself.

And she has created roles... Fantine in Les Mis, Norma in Sunset Boulevard... plus way back in time... Baker's Wife, and Robber Bridegroom, not to mention multiple straight-play characters.

I believe she was asked to create Fosca in "Passion", but was otherwise detained in London playing Norma at the time...

Congrats to Patti - this is hugely deserved...!
