Patti Will Attempt To Sing Marilyn Horne

In 2015, LA Opera will stage "The Ghosts of Versailles" with Patti Lupone as Samira. The role was written for Marilyn Horne. I doubt if Ms Lupone can sing the role.

I doubt if Ms Lupone can sing the role.

And she doubts if you can direct your way to center stage.

All kidding aside, she'll be terrific in this.

She couldn't even come close to Astrid Varnay as Mrs. Begbick.

Does Patti have the vocal range to sing the role? I agree about her performance as Begbick. The John Doyle production was awful.

I'm sure the ornamentation will change, but I think she'll sing it wonderfully and be wonderfully funny.

John Corigliano was going to adjust the part for Kristin Chenoweth when she was supposed to do it at the Met a few years ago, so he may be doing the same for LuPone.
