He will also be in Carmen at the San Francisco Opera Nov -Dec 2011 for fans on the west coast Also I see Nathan Gunn another Met. Opera baritone has also been announced for the Carlyle.I wonder if he has appeared there before or if Paulo's success there has encouraged him
Oops, that Superconductor site had the start date for Manon wrong, first performance is March 26, 2012 per Met site now up. Here's their page on Manon.
Regarding Nathan Gunn's performing at Cafe Carlyle, from what I've seen, I really don't like the way he sings Broadway songs.

I'll let you know what I think as he's my last cabaret performer at OCPAC on March 25th. We've have some great show this year with Idina Menzel, Sutton Foster, Megan Mullaly and a tribute to the music of Cy Coleman; will be interesting to see how he does.
I think there are 7 bar seats (maybe . The center three are excellent, the two on the curve should be okay, if a bit awkward, but there are 2 behind a column where I assume you couldn't see at all. Get there a little earlier and maybe go on a week day to get one of the good seats!
Thanks for the info! The only night I can go is the 19th but I am prepared to wait outside as long as is necessary! If I'm first in line I'll just get best pick of the seats I'm assuming/hoping?
Yep, bar seating is first come, first serve. If you're going to an 8:30 ish show, the room will open for the dining room around 6:30. It's a long time to wait at the bar if you're not eating, but I brought a book and made it worthwhile. Just call the Carlyle that week to see what time they think you should arrive. You'll be able to tell when you get there which are the good seats. Enjoy!
