Hi! I am taking the bus from DC to New York, Penn Station around Christmas time. It looks like I will have a lot of luggage, maybe two suitcases, that I would like to store somewhere so I can go to a show, and do a little sightseeing. Does Penn Station have storage lockers, or where near there might I go for this. Thanks!!

hmmmm honestly i dont know. i never use penn for anything other than the LIRR. Amtrak however might have lockers? You could ask them? Or Grand Central might have em?

Grand Central isn't exactly a quick stroll from Penn, though...

AMTRAK at Penn Station does have a baggage check service, but it closes at 10pm every night.

no, but its better than dragging everything around with you to shows and such.

or cmars1010 you could even ask the bus line you are using if they have lockers there?

I believe you have to be an amtrak customer to check baggage at Penn though. I don't think they have lockers anymore post 9-11 for security reasons.

Most hotels will hold your bags if your room isn't ready yet...that is,if you're staying at a hotel.

"Pennsylvania Station does store luggage, but the facility can be hard to find. Do ask a uniformed Amtrak employee for assistance at the station if you have difficulty finding it. Generally, you need to be able to present a train ticket to use this service, but not always. Costs are moderate. This option is most useful if you intend to travel via Amtrak, or if you will take NJ Transit/AirTrain to Newark Airport."

The baggage check counter personnel at Penn Station don't ask if you are a passenger. I guess they just assume that you are one. The cost is $4.00, I believe, but yes, they close at 10:00pm, so claim your bags before then.

If you are taking the Washington Deluxe bus line, be aware that they actually drop you off a few blocks away from Penn Station, so you will be lugging said luggage.

Wouldn't you be going to Port Authority instead of Penn Station if you're taking a bus? That's about 8 blocks away from Penn Station, and I don't think they have lockers or storage there at all anymore.

I am not sure where exactly I am going into, but I am leaving from penn station around 3am the next morning to go to islip airport, so I would rather take it there at the beginning so I can pick it up as I am leaving.

I understand penn station's luggage storage service closes at 10pm, when do they reopen? thanks!
