I was just thinking about the CHESS benefit concert cast (and how amazing that cast was) and how disappointing it is that a recording of that concert was never released... Now IF CHESS was ever to be revived what would be your dream cast?
I would love for Anthony Warlow to come to states to play the Russian...
Also what are some ideas that you guys have for fixing the very flawed book?

I liked the book in the chess concert...
I would also keep fom that cast everyone except for the Russian, just because I don't think Josh Groban would be available for a broadway show with his other work.

Interesting Lavieboheme3090, could you elaborate on how you would have it end as far as the order of events?

Posted: 8/15/07 at 11:27pmI'm completely biased but I loved Adam as The American and would love to see him reprise the role in an actual production. Julia was good, but I would like to see someone else tackle Florence, although I am not sure of who.

Posted: 8/15/07 at 11:30pmI saw Adam at a solo show earlier this year, when asked if he'd consider playing Freddie if they revived the show, he said yes he would be interested. I mean there is a lot more involved in that decision I know, but it was nice to know there is interest.

I don't know the show as well as others, but based on what I have heard, there are 2 people I think could do an amazing job with this:
Florence: Lisa Brescia (I just want to hear her sing "Nobody's Side")
The Russian: Aaron Lazar

Yes Adam Pascal would be my top choice for Freddie in a Revival... that is if there ever is one....
I loved this whole cast but I think Josh Groban could be replaced by Aaron Lazar or Anthony Warlow.

Posted: 8/15/07 at 11:46pmI am terrible at casting, even pretend casting, so in the paper it was just my friends haha. O well thats the business right? You asked how I would end it and I put Nobody's Side as the end and had Florence becoming a rouge agent and going after the Russian.

Hey, that never stops anyone here!

Posted: 8/15/07 at 11:56pmWell, I would really like to see Sutton as Florence.
#18re: Perfect CHESS Cast
Posted: 8/15/07 at 11:58pmI could see that, but her SES was so beautiful, but the part is way to small for her to play in an actual production now.

Posted: 8/16/07 at 12:08amShe didn't play Florence in the Concert, Julia Murney played Florence. Sutton played Svetlana, the Russian's wife.
#22re: Perfect CHESS Cast
Posted: 8/16/07 at 12:09amFor some reason they gave the song to Sutton. Doesn't that throw off the story?
#23re: Perfect CHESS Cast
Posted: 8/16/07 at 12:10amI know that, but she still sang SES. I was saying that I could see her as Florence, but her SES as Svetlana was so beautiful, but it is such a small role.

Posted: 8/16/07 at 12:11amIt matter how much you want involve Svetlana. Giving her that number in the first act would mean that she would be around for all of the action and it would really make Florence seem more like a heartly b*tch. I think you could give her the song, but she would have to sing in the second act when she is revealed.
