i used to be Anti-Berni, but she is starting to grow on me
Stephanie J. Block. Period. Hated her and now I'm hooked.
Jewishboy-- I wish I could get my hands on video of that concert! Those are three of my favourite songs of all time, and songs that I often use to gauge what I think of a performer.
I've only seen Max as Enjolras, and I think he was woefully miscast in that role, so I guess my opinion of him suffers because of that.
kristen chenoweth-when i first heard "Popular," i thought it was a munchkin singing! how wrong I was...
patti lupone: i didn't really like her when I saw the recording of Candide, but when I saw her in Sweeney Todd, I fell in love. And she was beyond fabulous in Gypsy.
It was part of the "Broadway by the Year" series done at Town Hall last May (The Broadway Musicals of 1979). It will be out on CD eventually, but not for a couple of years...

Sherie Rene. At first I hated the tone of her voice because it's strattling the line of being too nasal. But it's grown on me and now I'm definitely a fan.
Shere Rene Scott grew on me, too. I still don't love her voice, but when I saw her live, I was blown away by her stage presence. She's definitely not who I'd pick to play Ursula, but she's really talented.
Believe it or not, once upon a time i wasn't too fond of tim howar!!
I'm gonna third Sherie Renee Scott
When I first heard Aida, I was not too impressed with her voice, but she has definetly grown on me and now im a fan
stephanie j. block.
i didn't care for her at first but the more i hear her voice and see the way she animates herself the more i am blown away by her talent
i remember her saying one time how much she looked up to liz callaway and i can hear a little bit of liz when stephanie sings sometimes
Schmerg, I agree with you about Sherie Rene and Ursula. It just doesn't work.
Another Little Mermaid one who really grew on me is Tituss Burgess. I initially didn't like him on the recording because I was expecting something more like the original film, but when I saw him live, I was blown away! Now I like listening to the Broadway version of "Under The Sea" more than the film version.
