Has anyone seen this? It's running till October 31st. I love Jane Austen's book, but the review in the Times was not that great. Wondering what other people thought of it.

I saw it. I’m a huge Bedlam fan, so I found a lot to enjoy in it. But it wasn’t their best work. Too long, too dense, a little too slapdash. But parts of it are quite fun, and the direction is very inventive as always. A lot of the humor missed the mark for me though. Since you’re familiar with the source material (I wasn’t) I think that would be an added benefit. Because I found it a bit difficult to follow.

The “grand finale” is really lovely, BTW. Almost worth the price of admission on its own.

If you’re already a fan of Bedlam, I think it’s worth it, but don’t expect Sense and Sensibility level brilliance. If you’re on the fence about their work, this probably won’t win you over. And if you’re not familiar with their work, then this will give you a good idea of the KIND of stuff their do, but not a good representation of how good it can be.

Hope that helps!
