re: Peter Pan national tour cast bios now up!

is this a mistake or is Michael really being played by a girl now? if it's not that's just sad...

ABIGAIL TAYLOR (Michael Darling) hails from Florida where she has been acting since she was five. She enjoys playing with her dogs and hanging out with friends. Special thanks to God, Cathy Rigby, Julia Flores, Mom, Dad, Memae, Poppy, Dylan, Colin, Cody, Debbie, Chelle, Diana Rogers and William Garon. Dreams do come true.

VICTORIA WOOD (Michael Darling), an Ohio native is honored to be making her Broadway debut. Regional: recipient of several Regional and National Dance Titles. Victoria enjoys dancing, singing, acting and gymnastics. A special thank you to Mom, Dad, Garrett, Blake and all her dance teachers and friends for their support. Dreams do come true!

also, how is Victoria making her Broadway debut in a national tour? that soooooooo does not count...

Aren't they taking the tour to Broadway for a short run after the tour? So I guess that means she will still be with the show.

Michael has been played by a girl for a while, now. And Michael is many times played by a girl in professional productions, as is Peter Pan, obviously.

What IS new is that for this leg of the tour, there are two actresses playing Michael.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Not Broadway - it will have a run at Madison Square Garden's theatre.

well, I'm glad I saw a boy. I don't really understand the reasoning behind this. It's not like little 5 to 10 year old boys are in short supply ... they're running all over the place playing Oliver and Gavroche... put those little girls in the annie tour and let poor Michael be a boy again! they should have changed the name to Michelle... that would have been funny...

Yeah, I really don't see the reasoning, other than that it lets more girls have actual speaking parts in the show.

Michael has been the widest and most on-going casting search for the tour. They've replaced the original boy and the first girl replacement. The girl who took over left when the first leg closed. This is the 4th and 5th replacements.

No clue why they are having such trouble finding an actor. My only guess is bad timing.

That makes no sense to me. There is not one boy working in theater now that could have played Michael?

The last time the show came to NY it was a boy, and he was quite good.

The sad thing is, It was actually a great event when Sandy Duncan did it, Now it drudges on like a tired old war horse. Put Rosie up there on that flying wire and we'll go back to see it now! Love ya Ro!!!

totally disagree. I love Cathy, I think she's brilliant in the role, and even somewhat definitive. I've said it before, I'll be their when she's touring the country flying around in a wheelchair...

re: Peter Pan national tour cast bios now up!

When she did it in 1991 it was sort of an event.

But when it was revived in 1997 is was just as much an event as it was in '79. Completely new sets, costumes, designs, flying, etc.

In '98, '99, '00, and '04 it became much. re: Peter Pan national tour cast bios now up! But still welcomed and did well financially each time.

What year did it play the Marriott? I thought it was 96 - but my memory is failing me lately and it could have been 97. I loved it. I'm hoping to see it this time at MSG, because joeyjoe has never seen a production of it and I think he'll really love it also.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

When it was in Chicago during this jaunt, it seemed like everyone in the show was related to Rigby somehow..
There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

I really liked Cathy Rigby in the role, I thought she was more boyish than Mary Martin (though she rocked too). Does she still use that God-awful Cockney accent, though?

re: Peter Pan national tour cast bios now up!

I think it's far from tired. Rigby is wonderful, and I can't wait to see it again when it hits MSG.

Didn't it play the Gershwin in 1997? Or was that 1998? I definitely saw it in the Gershwin at some point in the late 1990's.
