Phantom SRO Question
Phantom SRO Question#0
Posted: 8/6/06 at 12:55amSo, Phantom of the Opera has SRO when the show is sold out... How often does the show sell out? Think it would be sold out on a Wednesday night? Has anyone done SRO at POTO? Were you able to get seats once it started/after intermission?
re: Phantom SRO Question#1
Posted: 8/6/06 at 1:23amIt will just have random sold out performances during the summer. Otherwise it's only sold out during holidays. But what's good is you can buy in advance. I bought a ticket on a Friday for a sold out show on that Sunday on New Years weekend last year. So ask the BO if they will sell for some performance that's sold out.
re: Phantom SRO Question#2
Posted: 8/6/06 at 3:34amBe warned: it's obstructed. You will not be able to see the Phantom when he's on the Proscenium. I sat near the back of the orchestra and was shocked at how bad the sightlines were. I was surprised they put the show here. Do producers ever think about these things when looking for theatres? We know set designers don't seem to care if anyone can see the stage (*cough* Spamalot *cough*).
re: Phantom SRO Question#3
Posted: 8/6/06 at 3:38amI sat on the floor right next to the standing area and could see the whole stage. I just didn't see much of the chandelier going up or down.

Posted: 8/6/06 at 3:41amIf you've never seen Phantom, don't get SRO. You miss some scenic elements that aren't important to the story, but they are just wonderful sights to see on a stage.
re: Phantom SRO Question#5
Posted: 8/6/06 at 10:58amI had standing room even though i didn't think the show was sold out that day. But, yeah, the view is obstructed, my favorite parts were blocked out. I was crawling and kneeling everywhere back there!
re: Phantom SRO Question#6
Posted: 8/6/06 at 11:00amThe best bet for being sold out are summer weekends and Holiday Week in December.

re: Phantom SRO Question#7
Posted: 8/6/06 at 11:26amShould there be no SRO, look to see if the rear mezz is available. It's $20/$25 and you see all of the show. It's really not that bad considering the show. I won't even be surprised if they allwo binoculars, which will make the actor visibility much higher than SRO.
