All the shows are terribly overpriced in Vegas. I mean, who would pay more than $100 to see Danny Gans?
I hear he is amazing....so i might....LOL

That's average in Vegas. Check out Celine or "O".
Upper balcony for 74 dollars is normal?!?!?!!?!? GAHHHHHH lol

Last time I went with my parents, we thought about seeing Elton John ($150+, but hey, they were paying ). I nixed it because as supportive as my parents are, I didn't think I'd be comfortable watching penis-shaped balloons with them, which I think was a part of his show.

The CHEAPEST seat for "O" is 99 dollars (and there's not many of them) - and they sell out every show weeks in advance.
"O" was such a disappointment...not worth the $$

A-Beav - I haven't seen it (won't pay that price!) but you're the first person I've heard anything like that from.
The water idea was great, but it was very repetitive and didn't have any of the "oh my god...how do they do that!" that a lot of the other cirque shows have.

If I were to pick one to plop down that kind of cash for, I think I'd pick ZUMANITY - but mostly for Mr/Ms Arias
Totally agree with Anastasia. I was mostly bored by "O."
Celine's a MUCH better show, for my money.
(Sorry to threadjack...go back to talking about Phantom now.)

I think, overall, the price of all theater tickets, whether in New York, or Las Vegas, are outrageously expensive. Theater should not be a luxary like a Louis Vitton purse. Theater is a culturally enriching event that should be affordable and available to all people - not just the wealthy (or people with money to blow), and sadly, that is what it is becoming. As much as I'd be interested in seeing the new Vegas "Phantom", at least I know I can always go to New York, and see the tried and true original for way under $150.00 and still get a great production.
Without getting into a Cirque debate, I have to say "O" is truly a fantastic show...albeit different than a typical Cirque show. Zumanity is by far the most unique of them all.
Anywho...Phantom prices didn't surprise me at all. I thought "Gold Circle" was going to start at $200. I was told by a friend of mine that is in Celine's show that he had preview tickets for Phantom, so I am supposedly going with him...we shall see what it's all about, I am VERY curious (and would be willing to spend the money to find out what this "Phantom experience" is all about! HOLLA!)
Well Jason, I think its very questionable whether people go to shows in Vegas for a culturally enriching event...
The prices for PHANTOM are akin to all the other shows in Vegas. The question is: will the "new and improved" special effects warrant the ticket price when the show is still playing in NYC and on tour for much cheaper.
The question is: Does "John Q. Las Vegas Public" care what's on tour or playing NY? My guess is no, and that the general public will see and pay for entertainment in Las Vegas that they wouldn't care one bit about at home or anywhere else.
I think people will pay those prices to see Phantom in Vegas. The fact that they have cut a lot of it and are adding more visual spectacula makes me want to see it there even though I am not a huge fan of the show.
O was Great
We are staying @ Bellagio for our 5 th go around in July. Many things in the hotel are free & there are many low priced shows that are entertaining. Will take a pass on this one unless the $ 99 seats are great
HOLLY HECK!!!! My front row Q tickets had only cost me 99.00...eeeeeeeek!
What are the run-times of these other Vegas shows? (The Cirques, Celine, Elton, etc.) Nothing can justify those ridiculously high prices (aside from supply/demand) but at least when you drop $100 in NY for a 2.5 hour experience, you can make an evening of it. Paying $150 for 1.5 hours doesn't give you much bang for your buck!
With all the special effects and whatnot, people really want to see it, so with the high demand they have the opportunity to hike up the prices. And I think people go to Las Vegas expecting to spend money, so it's convinient.
Generally Vegas shows are 1 1/2 hrs - to get you back in the casino faster
I could be wrong but Mama Mia @ Mandalay Bay may be the complete broadway version
Makes sense, Becky and Roxy. Supply and demand, right? I hope there are still $5 steak-and-lobster dinners and $3 buffets though, otherwise I'll never go to Vegas again!

i wouldnt pay that much for seeing this show! for one, its only like a 95 min. version, i can see it ON BROADWAY for cheaper, and see 2 1/2 hrs of entertainment. thats just me though
i think this show will be relying on gamblers to make lots of money in those casinos for this to make it...
sorry to also threadjack, but how is hairspray doing there anyway?
