Posted: 3/29/05 at 9:53amCan anyone tell me if POTO will be closing 9/3? Most of the ticket sites on the Internet only are selling tickets through 9/3. Does that mean that it will be closing on that date? Thanks again for the info.

Posted: 3/29/05 at 9:59amAnything is possible...but most shows aren't on sale right now past September. It's just too far in advance. Tickets past 9/3 probably just haven't been released yet. If it had already been decided that it was closing, something would be announced.

Posted: 3/29/05 at 10:03amPhantom has a few more years of life in it. I highly doubt it will close this year. Besides I think the producers want it to exceed Cats.

Yeah, I'm sure Phantom still has life in it. They just haven't released the next block of tickets beyond that date yet.

That show will be around forever. Decades from now our grandkids will be on whatever the future version of this board looks like, talking about it:)
and by then, Hugh Panaro will have been elected President or something. Maybe a bronze statue..?

Posted: 3/29/05 at 4:08pmHehe. I mean, it's not like the movie version has made everyone stop going to see it. If anything, I went back to the show after seeing the movie, to restore my love for the piece:)

I bet the movie didn't help it like it was supposed to. But I don't think it hurt it. And yes, I think the producers want it to be the longest running before the show closes.
I just wish Camron had had the sense to do that with Les Miz. It really should have been the longest running. They weren't far behind.

Cameron Mackintosh is one amazing man.
He had better keep POTO open for years to come.

Hugh for President? That's an interesting idea... LOL!
They usually sell tickets up to about 4 months in advance. But I don't believe the show is closing anytime soon. It seems that that they are really intent on beating Cats' record.

Posted: 3/29/05 at 11:25pmPhantom has less than a year until it beats Cats for the longest running show. Hugh's contract expires in July but he could renew...and they should definitely beg him to...mmmm...

Posted: 3/29/05 at 11:41pmI think it would be interesting if they finally updated Phantom. I mean, keep the staging and everything the same, but update the technology. They're still using 80's equipment. The show would go dark for at most 1 week, while the switch is made. Just think how cool new sets, lighting, and sound would be. And PLEASE could they make the chandelier not so lame?

I think the whole point of keeping POTO the way it always been is because it's such a nostalgic show and a classic. If you want a new updated version of POTO, then I believe that's what the new Vegas production is for. :)

Posted: 3/30/05 at 12:14amPhantom will never close. It will be open as long as we are alive. You can write it down.

Is it true the Las Vegas production is going to run pretty much around the clock?
Cause if so, they're insane.
