The only Phantom of the Opera prequel I condone is Susan Kay's "Phantom", because she did a beautiful job with it. It should remain in book form, though.

I think that Susan Kay's PHANTOM could make a fantastic musical. It would have been a far better bet for Andrew Lloyd Webber than the contrived sequel he has fashioned. I wonder what Maury Yeston could make of it.
