Is POTO the longest-running show ever in the world or on Broadway? Surely it's been running longer in London? Maybe it's something to do with amount of performances. What about Les Mis in London? By the way, when I say show, I mean a musical (not a play) that has reached Broadway at some point in its life. So I think that excludes The Fantasticks and The Mousetrap.
Thanks gang!

Cats in London closed on it's 21st Birthday to become the longest running musical; The Mousetrap, which opened in 1952, is the longest running theatrical production in the world.
Les Miserables in London will overtake the 'Cats' record this October

My favorite Forbidden Broadway line:
Singer 1: These Broadway shows...
Singer 2: ...they never close!
Oy....That should have been "These "British shows..."

Actually, if we count off-Broadway then The Fantasticks would beat Cats as well.
It ran from May 3, 1960 to January 13, 2002. That is 17,162 performances.
