Wow Alice Ripley looks rough. It looks like she hit a brick wall running! What happened? She didn't look this bad during Rocky Horror.
I got rid of my teeth at a young age because... I'm straight. Teeth are for gay people. That's why fairies come and get them

Who didn't take their gallant pills this morning?
I think she looks fine, although the wig isn't terribly flattering and she seems to be wearing a 'period' make-up.

Alice looks rough???? WOW!! I think she looks great! Especially in the picture by herself. We can always count on her to be the true chameleon actress in musical theatre. She looks the way the character should look. I think it's perfect!

I think Alice looks and sings the role better (well at least Meadowlark... which I've heard her sing... I'll be seeing the show in a few weeks).

If they are trying to make her look like Patti maybe it's to promote her for Evita... in the long-talked about revival!!! ANYONE??? hehe. I'm just kidding, but 100% hoping! Who is more right for that role?

Thanks for the Patti picture MEF.

No, she definitely looks like she's in her early 30s. Her face is very youthful.

I personally stated that I would love to see Toni Collette as Evita, but many around here have mentioned Rachel York for the part. We shall see...

I don't think Rachel has the belt to pull it off. She has a nice, sweet voice, but not a ton of power. However, I heard that she did EVITA at Reprise, so you never know.

That's how I feel about Rachel as well. Definitely not enough power in her belt. No doubt she could do it, but so many others who could do it better!

1) Alice
2) Toni
3) Carolee

Carolee could sing the hell out of the part, but she's getting uo there as well. They would have to revive it ASAP for her. Anything to get a performer of Carolee's caliber out of MAMMA MIA.

I also think Marin Mazzie could pull it off. Maybe even Emily Skinner or Rebecca Luker.

I think Alice looks great. She looks like Charity Hope Valentine in that dress! HAHA Max is a burly guy in this show, huh? 5 o'clock shadow.

Seriously, how much do you love Alice Ripley??

I think she looks amazing, especially in that one picture by herself. I should be seeing this next Friday...and/or Saturday...and then the following week...and the week after that...I can't wait. Seriously...Alice Ripley as the baker's wife in The Baker's Wife.

Speaking of people who would sing the sh*t out of certain roles, if they could just mount a production of Aida with Shoshana as Aida my life could be complete.

I think Rachel York has the power for Evita. Did you see her in Kiss Me, Kate? She almost knocked the walls down with her power, and she wasn't even trying. I would love to see Rachel as Evita.

P.S.: Does anyone think The Baker's Wife would work on Broadway?

re: Photo Preview: Paper Mill's 'The Baker's Wife'

How did we get to suggesting Rebecca Luker as Evita? WRONG WRONG WRONG! I've heard talk mostly about Alice Ripley in the role. I think people realize she's the best person for the part, and hopefully people are starting to get that revival on track before she gets too old.

Alice sang "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" at the recent ALW concert at the Kennedy Center. Count me in as one who would love to see her as Evita.
