For my birthday last year, my boyfriend took me to see PigPen's "The Nightmare Story", and for those who missed it - I cannot describe how captivating it was. It was one of the greatest pieces of theatre I've seen in New York, and I often wished I had been able to see it again.
This year, my boyfriend surprised me with tickets for the first preview of "The Old Man and the Old Moon". It is truly spectacular. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the production and this company. It's creative storytelling at its best - live original music, heartwarming acting, shadow puppetry, and imagination, all in a very intimate setting.
It's running through November 25th at the Gym at Judson on Thompson Street. I'm in no way associated with the show. I just believe so much in this company that I had to post something about it.
I hope this show gets the recognition and the audience it deserves. It's clear that this is a very special company, and I wish them the greatest success in all of their projects. This is a must see of the season!

Seven attractive young guys are singing and playing all sorts of instruments and operating shadow puppets and acting, but at the core it's the make-you-laugh-make-you-cry story that counts. Definitely worth checking out!

It's a full length show with a 15 minute intermission. I don't remember the exact running time, but I'd say a little over 2 hours.
And it's not a children's show at all. Rather I'd say it's a show for adults that brings out the inner child :)
