I too would also love to see the Fosse cut. It would mean a lot! :P
The requests are just pouring in, and I'm getting to everybody as they come in so far, so hang tight!
Also, to alleviate any confusion... Phyllis Rogers Stone is responsible for the optimal "combo cut," not me. Direct any questions about where the new one will be uploaded to PRS, thanks!

Any way I can get in on this too? I can wait. :) But I would love to see this.
"ForPoland--it is the complete show.
Does it include "I Guess I'll Miss The Man."?"
Yes, and that's another moment I don't know why they cut--where The Leading Player tries to get the orchestra not to play while she sings.
It has everything I know from the libretto--the decapitated head bit, the brief prayer for a duck song, etc.
Reportedly, that number was the biggest item that Fosse took issue with -- he even said something along the lines that they could cut whatever else they wanted, but not that song.
Well it's one of the moments that first clearly shows Catherine sorta "breaking away" from the script, etc. I remember when I first saw the video as a teen, knowing only the cast album, I was shocked it was missing (I didn't know the release cut so much.)
PRS can't come up with this combo edit soon enough!
UPDATE:
PRS says it's almost ready. The file was divided with HJSplit, and they're not giving lessons (see *my* detailed PM). I will be glad to provide HJSplit lessons to anyone who wants the file.

LOL Thanks for spreading the word!
My pleasure!
And... the combo edit is in! Hit me up, everyone, and I'll show you what to do.
How do I go about getting a chance to see this. I have been a Pippin fan since I saw the original show. I love the dvd version but was so disappointed that so much had been edited out. I thought maybe it hadn't been filmed but the edits are so choppy you can actually tell that there are things missing, especially in the "No time at all number". Hope you can get back to me. Thanks again Ed
I would also like to see it, if possible.
Hate to add more requests, but I would love to see this as well.
Thanks!
Many thanks to Phyllis for doing an outstanding job. Watching the two edits individually, I didn't realizeeven how many quick lines of dialogue, or brief scenes were taken away. I *do* think, even more so that the full version gives a very different impression (still, though, mostly when it comes to Catherine, but also Pippin's own questioning of his path) than the edited version conveys. I wonder how many reviews of Fosse's version have been influenced by the edit that was released?

i'm not really knowledgable about pippin... but what exactly was edited from the video? I own it and have seen the show live once but i couldn't tell you what the differences were

If you compare the combo cut and the Fosse edit very closely, you'll actually realize there were still a few more little things Phyllis (or whoever made the combo cut) didn't get to, or else they made specific editorial choices. I'm not knocking it, it's terrific, but the completist in me would want a little more of that stuff in, regardless of the quick changes in quality. Some of them are debatable as to whether they add anything (I refer you again to Berthe's bit about the juicy court gossip), but there's another verse missing from "War is a Science" and stuff like that which I think still adds a little something.
jewishboy, combo cut or Fosse cut?

It's been a long time since I watched the full Fosse cut (I don't even think I have it anymore) but I always thought I missed a few things here and there. I don't believe they were editorial choices, I probably just missed them along the way. The funny thing about this is that I was all hopped up on chemo meds (a couple years ago, I'm fine now) when I did it, so I barely remember doing it at all, and in the in time since, I've never been able to successfully navigate any editing software.
I would love to see the combo cut as well. May I?
Phyllis--get drugged up again, please, so I can see more of what you can do :P
G.D. Now I'm gonna have to still go back and compare. Still, I prefer this version to the commercial release.
Eastlasgana--the main edits in the commercial release are book bits--Pippin hearing about the futility of war from the decapitated head, etc. Where the major cuts are involve the Catherine scenes--it's more clear from the "Fosse/Phyllis" edit that she is unsure of her role and falling for Pippin, there's a lot more with him and Theo including the Prayer for a Duck (if that's what it's called) and she has her moment separate from the Players, with a disgusted Leading player asking for no instruments, in "I Guess I Miss The Man" which is entirely missing from the commercial release. It amounts to a bit over 20 minutes.

Yeah I have to pile on as well here. I would love to see the edit please. I've always wanted to see the talking head scene. Thanks in advance :)

If you don't mind, I would love a copy as well!
Sorry for yet another request, but if you're still giving it out, could I get a copy?
Anyone else on a Mac having trouble?
