Libby1209...I say go for Pippin. I was on the side in the Mezz and it was perfectly fine seat. You will amazed how great the show is and how the cheap seat is actually just a wonderful seat.
Libby, i forgot to add, one of the coolest things about ONCE is the "preshow concert" that starts about 15 minutes before showtime. the audience is ENCOURAGED to get up on the stage have a drink and hang while most of the cast plays right along side you in character!
Its pretty awesomne!!

Pippin is amazing! I found Once boring, but others love it, so I am sure either is a good choice.
Pippin. Once might have been kind of cute downtown, but it feels desperately "hip" and empty here. To my mind, anyway.
Here is one other option you could try... getting rush tickets. Here is a link. You will have to be in line an hour or two before the box office opens though!

Well let's see. Once bored me to tears
and I saw it with the original cast. I don't get this show.
Pippin was an exhilarating night in the theatre.
So if you want boredom go to Once.
If you want what Broadway is all about Pipping.
This is a no-brainer.
Pippin is magnificent. To me, it's the best thing on Broadway right now. You cannot miss this production. You have the opportunity to see the original (award-winning) cast. The Music Box is an intimate venue and it appeared to me that there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Go see Pippin or you will hate yourself.

For me, ONCE is emblematic of the mediocre product that passes for Best Musical these sorry days. While the staging was interesting, everything else was either boring or pretentious, and I saw the heralded original cast. The emperor has no clothes.
PIPPIN, on the other hand, is vibrant, exhilarating, beautifully performed and directed. So there you go.

The commercial for Once is like fingernails on a chalk board to me. I haven't seen it and the commercial it more than enough for me.
I drove to Boston to see Pippin thinking it wasn't going to transfer. I saw it again here in NYC and loved the changes. I will admit that although I love Pippin I do think it slows down midway through.
With that disclosure if you had to pick one I think you will get more bang for your buck at Pippin.
Here is the easy way to decide. Once won Tony awards, Pippen 4. Both won Best Show in their catagory
Do you like big traditional musical theater with dancing and acrobats? PIPPEN
Do you like untraditional love stories with a rock beat that will make you cry? ONCE
